Melissa Rathmell, MD
I love spending time really getting to know my patients – who they are and where they came from, their interests, hopes, and dreams. Everyone has a story to tell, and I want to hear all of it!
Dr. Melissa Rathmell started her career working as a full-time engineer and part-time paramedic. After several years working in both fields, she decided medicine was her calling. She earned her medical degree from the University of Massechusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts and completed her residency in Family medicine at the Barre Family Health Center in Barre, Massachusetts.
Before joining InnovAge in 2022, Rathmell spent 15 years providing a full spectrum of family medicine at the Family Health Center in Worchester, before shifting her to focus geriatrics. Next, as the Associate Medical Director for Landmark Health, she led multiple interdisciplinary “pods,” oversaw the care of more than 2,000 medically complex geriatric patients, and developed data modeling to identify high-utilization patients needing more care and better engagement.
Several years ago, Rathmell visited Fort Collins and fell in love with the community. When the opportunity arose to move to Colorado in 2022, she Jumped. She loves to spend her time hiking and is learning about nature photography. When the weather is less good, she enjoys reading, cooking, and playing games and puzzles with her husband of 40 years.
