“Nurses provide a compassionate, listening ear for our seniors,” says Dr. Sarah Roberts, vice president of clinical operations and one of InnovAge’s clinical nursing leaders. “They advocate for them to their teammates in our clinics and centers around the country. We all see first-hand their leadership, compassion, commitment, and diligence. They are inspiring to all of us.”
Here are some comments from InnovAge nursing employees on why they love being a nurse, why they love caring for older adults, and what’s special about PACE:
Being a Nurse. “I have a genuine desire to really make a difference in people’s lives, says Nichole, a nurse practitioner in Newport News, Virginia. “I love being able to heal, treat, educate, and do whatever else I can to help improve someone’s health and well-being.”
Participants. “It gives me personal satisfaction to know I have the ability to help improve someone’s well-being, physically and emotionally,” says Sheree, a primary care RN at InnovAge’s St. Bart’s LIFE center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “And our seniors are so interesting to work with. They have experienced things we haven’t and that gives you a different perspective on your own life. They also bring so much humor. We hear a lot of funny stories from our seniors and I just love it!”
Team-Based Care. “I love the team approach that we take to giving seniors the best care that we can,” says Erika, an RN case manager in Roanoke, Virginia. “It’s not just one individual, but a group of people, and their specialties, that come together and we work as a team to give the older population the best care that we can in the last years of their lives and I think there is so much growth on the horizon for this company and what we can do within our communities across the nation.”
Job Satisfaction. “I love the PACE model and I truly enjoy all the providers and staff,” says Lita, a nurse practitioner in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Carla, an LPN at the St. Bart’s center, adds: “Working with InnovAge has been a great learning experience for me. I’ve been with the company for six years, and during this time I got to watch the company grow. We opened other centers that I was able to be a part of and that was special to me.”
Coworkers. “The team I work with is the most dynamic, clever, interesting, and wonderful group of people,” says Gillian, a home care clinical services manager in Sacramento, California. “They make me feel so proud to be part of this organization and to be a nurse. I feel supported and happy to be in this environment. I think of both my co-workers and participants as part of my family.”
